- Continuing to meet Customer needs whilst managing the impacts of COVID-19 is a vital part in our response to keep the South African economy afloat. We are monitoring COVID-19 developments daily to align our business accordingly.
- Our offices, facilities and sites will remain open and operational within Government guidelines and we will continue to support our Clients in line with government requirements.
- MacDonald’s Transport have all the necessary permits and certifications to provide essential services.
Operational Services during COVID-19

- The following depots are operational and are working with skeleton staff:
- All Warehousing services are continuing for all items listed as essential goods and services.
- Warehouse operations include Cross-Haul of cargo, Container/Cargo Handling, Storage, Packing/Unpacking and any other normal warehouse activities.
- All Transportation services are continuing for all items listed as essential goods and services.
- Transport services include Tippers, Flat decks, Tankers, Tautliners, Express loads and shunters.

What additional documentation will we require from our Client to enable us to render a service during this COVID-19?
- Certificate from the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) that confirms permission to trade.
Are Visitors/Guests permitted at our office and facilities during the COVID-19?
- In line with government and health authority advice, visitors at our facilities are restricted to critical business only and upon prior arrangements. Any other visitors will be prohibited to enter our facility.
- All COVID-19 health and safety protocols must be followed upon entering our facility, including social distancing, sanitation and hygiene, use of appropriate personal protective equipment, like face masks and gloves.
- MacDonald’s Transport encourages online meetings and conference calls with our Clients/Supplier.
What precautions are applied to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 within our facilities?
- Cleaning routines increased and facilities are disinfected constantly with suggested cleaning products.
- Hand sanitizers are placed at key points in all of our facilities to encourage constant cleaning of hands.
- Recommended personal protective equipment such as face masks and hand gloves are handed out and are compulsory when entering our facility.
What precautions are applied to ensure employees are not affected with COVID-19?
- We are encouraging staff, where possible, to work from home, giving them the technical infrastructure to do so.
- Employees that remain to work on site must adhere to the necessary health and safety measures such as social distancing, strict hygiene routines, coughing into elbow and limiting any contact or actions that may increase the risk of spreading COVID 19.
- Business travelling for employees are not encouraged and will be replaced with online meetings and conference calls where possible.
- A COVID 19 Hotline is available to all MacDonald’s Transport employees.
- All essential staff members have been issued with a traveling permit; original company stamped letter.
What precautions has been applied to drivers visiting (delivering or picking up from) sites?
- Drivers are encouraged to adhere to the necessary health and safety measures such as social distancing, strict hygiene routines, coughing into elbow and limiting any contact or actions that may increase the risk of spreading COVID 19.
- Drivers are encouraged to limit exiting their vehicles when loading/offloading, to make use of own stationary and to report electronically and minimize handling physical documentation.
- All vehicles are equipped with hand sanitizers and necessary personal protective equipment such as face masks and hand gloves.
- We are encouraging drivers to stay at home if they feel sick or develop flu like symptoms.
- Drivers /vehicles arriving from cross border locations has additional protocols implemented to minimize contact.
- A COVID 19 Hotline is available to all MacDonald’s Transport drivers.
- All drivers have been issued with a traveling permit, original company stamped letter.
